Job Overview

Arcfield is purpose-built to protect the nation and its allies through innovations in digital transformation, space mission engineering and launch assurance, miniaturized sensors and satellites, advanced modeling and simulation, cybersecurity, and hypersonic/ conventional missile support. Arcfield is headquartered in Chantilly, VA with multiple global offices.
The Systems Engineer will be part of a high-impact team supporting a government program office and will work across the full systems engineering lifecycle to ensure capability delivery, readiness, and integration of complex mission systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with stakeholders (government customers, contractors, subsystem developers) to gather, refine, and validate system requirements.

  • Develop or contribute to Concepts of Operations (CONOPS), system architecture, interface definitions, and performance measures.

  • Participate in design reviews, verification & validation activities, system readiness events, and transition to operations.

  • Support integration of system elements (hardware, software, data interfaces) and manage dependencies across domains.

  • Contribute to tools/processes for Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) / digital engineering, if applicable (for roles with that focus). 

  • Identify, assess, and manage technical risks, schedule and cost constraints, and change control related to systems engineering efforts. 

  • Communicate with government customers and internal teams translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders, support business development or programmatic interfaces as needed. 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Systems, Electrical, Aerospace, Computer Science) or equivalent technical discipline. 

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret / TS/SCI clearance with polygraph

  • Proven experience (varies by level) in systems engineering for government/defense/space environments (including requirements, architecture, integration, test). 

  • Familiarity with systems engineering lifecycle processes (e.g., requirements engineering, architecture, V-model, interface definition, verification/validation).

  • Strong communication skills, ability to work in cross-functional teams, manage competing priorities, and adapt to changing mission needs. 

Desired / Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with MBSE tools & processes (SysML, Cameo, MagicDraw, SparxEA) and digital engineering practices.

  • Knowledge of intelligence, space, or defense mission domains (e.g., GEOINT, ground segment, satellite communications) and relevant architecture frameworks (DoDAF, UAF).

  • Familiarity with agile/DevSecOps methodologies or SAFe frameworks in system development.
