As a Systems Architect, you will be responsible for the design, development, and evolution of large-scale mission systems and enterprise architectures supporting critical defense and intelligence programs. You’ll work closely with systems engineers, software developers, and program stakeholders to define system-level architecture, ensure interoperability, and guide the technical direction across multiple domains including space, cyber, and digital modernization.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, maintain, and communicate system and enterprise architectures for mission-critical systems.
Translate operational requirements and CONOPS into technical architectures and design solutions.
Lead architecture definition, design reviews, and trade studies to guide technical decisions.
Create and manage architecture artifacts including system views, interface control documents (ICDs), and data exchange specifications.
Ensure compliance with DoDAF, UAF, or enterprise architecture frameworks, as required by the customer.
Define system integration and interoperability strategies across hardware, software, and cloud environments.
Support Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) efforts using tools such as Cameo, MagicDraw, or Sparx Enterprise Architect.
Collaborate with cybersecurity engineers to ensure architecture resilience and compliance with mission security requirements.
Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend architectural enhancements to improve system performance, scalability, and maintainability.
Support program reviews, milestone readiness, and risk assessments for architecture implementation and verification.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
Active TS/SCI clearance (polygraph may be required for specific programs).
8+ years of experience in systems engineering or architecture for government, defense, or intelligence systems.
Strong knowledge of systems engineering lifecycle processes, including requirements, design, integration, verification, and validation.
Demonstrated expertise in architecture modeling, interface management, and technical baseline control.
Experience using MBSE tools and techniques to support architecture development.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to brief senior leaders.
Desired / Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Systems Engineering or related technical field.
INCOSE CSEP, DoDAF, or MBSE certification.
Experience with cloud architectures, hybrid computing, or enterprise service integration (e.g., AWS, Azure, Kubernetes).
Knowledge of space systems, ground control, or C4ISR architectures.
Familiarity with Agile and DevSecOps environments and how they interface with system architecture processes.
Experience with digital engineering and digital twin environments.
Understanding of mission assurance and cybersecurity architecture principles.
